IVOIRE research awards support rigorous and original intellectual work in the humanities and related fields, with an emphasis on depth, clarity, and enduring significance. The scholarship draws on the classical Trivium—reimagined within IVOIRE as World, Concept, and Expression—to frame its scope. World names careful inquiry into historical, religious, and cultural-social realities; Concept names rigorous philosophical and interpretive articulation; Expression names attentive exploration of the forms and media through which meaning is carried and transformed—whether textual, visual, ritual, or cinematic.
Eligible projects may be proposed by advanced undergraduates, graduate students, or early-career researchers. Proposals should demonstrate deep engagement with primary materials and substantial scholarship, as well as clearly formulated research questions and a disciplined method. They should be written in precise, lucid prose and aim to contribute to enduring conversations, moving beyond narrow, novelty-driven micro-topics to engage broader intellectual and lived contexts. Detailed criteria, award amounts, number of fellowships, and application timelines for the IVOIRE research awards will be announced in due course.
